The good news!
Looking forward to another visit from CF HQ Seminar Staff! Iron Major CrossFit will host our fall Level 1 Trainer Course on the weekend of 26-27 October, here at the Harney Bubble Annex.
The Level 1 Trainer Course is an introductory course on CrossFit's methodology, concepts, and movements certified and conducted by CrossFit HQ. Upon completing a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer Course, attendees will have the resources and sufficient foundation from which to continue independent and successful development as a CrossFit trainer or athlete. Completion of the course also grants the Level 1 Trainer certificate and credentials required to apply for affiliation.
The small advantage we can offer is early notice. The Oct 26-27 course was just recently posted to Main Site and it WILL sell out, possibly quickly -- demand is always high. For more information, see the Training Courses tab and FAQ section on Main Site. The registration link is available on the lower right hand banner of the Main Site. If you want some additional insights on the experience before you commit to dropping the cash, ask one of our trainers or post to comments below.
The bad news...
Due to the ongoing state of "fiscal uncertainty," CGSC is unable to provide scholarships for ILE students this time around. In the past, we have received funding for a chunk of scholarships that were awarded through an application process managed by IMCF. We hope to return to that model in the future, as it provides tremendous opportunities to grow the functional fitness knowledge base throughout our Army. Unfortunately, if you would like to attend the fall course you must pay your own way. The enrollment fee is $1000, with a discounted price of $800 for active duty military.

A final note:
In the interest of transparency, we do receive a limited number of discretionary slots as a benefit of hosting. With the lack of scholarships, these slots become especially critical to IMCF's ability to sustain our trainer base and support our community. Our criteria for awarding these slots is straightforward. Recipients will have an established track record of participation with IMCF, the potential and desire to serve as a trainer and supporter of our community, and (here's the rub) some remaining time on station in the local area. We will be contacting awardees as soon as possible.
We normally host L1 Courses in the Fall and Spring, next one should be sometime around Apr 14. The best way to position yourself for a future scholarship is simply to become an active member within IMCF. Join a regular workout group, participate in special events, interact on the blog, and look for ways to help out. If you have any questions, contact us at ironmajorcrossfit@gmail.com.
